Alpha’s training session saves a life at local pub

A recent medical emergency at The Fighting Cocks Pub in Alverstoke, Gosport led the management team to book a training course to teach them skills which they had to very quickly put to use for real.

Following a choking incident at the pub, The Fighting Cocks management decided to upgrade their health and safety training with the aid of Alpha’s Southern Region Trainer, Chris Newbrook.

Just three weeks after receiving the training the staff at the pub successfully resuscitated a customer who had unfortunately collapsed. The staff did a fantastic job using good CPR and communication learned from their training course. Sadly, there was no defibrillator on site, so a staff member had to drive to the nearest one which was at the local golf club.

As a result, the pub is holding a fundraiser event to help purchase a community defibrillator to be located at the pub. Their fundraiser takes place on Saturday 11th May and includes a BBQ, Bouncy Castle and live music plus the opportunity for lots of fun and games and of course fundraising raffles.

Chris Newbrook will also be in attendance demonstrating the life-saving equipment and will be on hand to answer any questions people may have.

If you would like to book a training course for your place of work please get in touch.
