Rescue provision for Water Tower maintenance

Rescue 2 were recently contracted to provide a four person rescue team for works on a 36 metre high Water Tower in Sussex.

The tower provides a clean water supply for the Horsham area, and needed repairs for a leak.  It was also due for a full service and clean – which was undertaken at the same time.

Rescue 2 were on hand to provide a rope rescue provision from inside the tower reservoir whilst the contractors were carrying out maintenance work.  Due to the constraints and widths of the stairwells – any rescue would have had to be achieved from the top of the tower, with the casualty lowered to ground level over the edge. This type of rescue could only be expertly achieved by rope rescue and the use of our over edge Arizona Vortex working system.

Rescue 2 work hard at building close working relationships with contractors, providing confined space advice, safe systems of work and encouraging active communication.
